There are so many different ways to make money on the internet it can be very confusing and baffling. So many options and a huge amount of people that have opinions on what works best. Every person that is solid in their company swears that their business is better than sliced bread or the moon landing!
Actually there are many companies that are solid and would provide you with the long term residual income that you are searching for and may provide a short term solution to your cash flow problems, but which one is for you? This series will give you my opinion, not the end all to be all, but seven critical elements that you will want to make sure the business you are considering has. After searching for over ten years and trying everything that I could, I have learned that a business without these elements may fail or come up short. Make sure that the company and business you are considering has a firm foundation including these elements...
Critical element number one in my opinion is a vision that is larger than pure profit, more than just making money, one that serves humanity and solves a problem.
A company with a vision that is more than just being in the profit and making money is important to me. While making money and making a living is the point of business, serving others to better their lives and solve some of life's problems is a higher calling. People want to make a difference in this world we live in. They want to leave a mark, something in history that will make a difference. A vision to help people solve a problem and better their lives puts any business one step ahead of the many businesses that exist purely to make money. The greatest advances of mankind and technology were to solve peoples problems and provide solutions that make peoples lives better.
On my journey, the audacious idea was to see how many people all over the world I could inspire to join me on the journey, which led to the founding of TriVita. The vision gets clearer and bigger every day and yes, the serendipitous mentors keep coming into my life to help enhance the vision and plan. Michael Ellison
A clear vision gives you the ability to overcome all of the obstacles along the way. A business with a purpose bigger than itself, something that makes a difference gives it an edge over every other profit only based business. When you help people solve their problems and have good results you have started the fire of a raving fan customer. When you repeatedly give your best services and help people the law of reaping and sowing, some people call it karma, comes into effect and produces you results far beyond profit and making a living.
This is going to be an awesome year for TriVita because as a company we have a mission and cause bigger than ourselves: helping people experience wellness. I believe we are seeing a leadership group developing in TriVita that is much more focused on fulfilling life purposes than on just seeing how much money they can make. The greatest resource around us today is the awesome potential of a person that recognizes their life purposes. Look into a prospective companies board room and see if their vision goes beyond profit, if it does not you may want to reconsider. Dream your dreams, make your passion your vision. Fulfill your life purposes.
In creating success for yourself, you are necessarily creating success for others because success depends, to some extent, on others. Others must succeed in order that you may have success.

Critical element number two is a company leadership with integrity, experience and values.
I think the one of the biggest reasons that companies fail is a lack of integrity. Leaders and companies that lack the ability to make a decision that will adhere to the companies vision and mission when times are tough, are doomed from the very start. Tough times and hard decisions are a part of every businesses venture and path. The final destination of a company will be determined by the decisions that are made every day. When past history shows the integrity and values of a companies leadership are solid, the chances are much better that the decisions made daily will adhere to the companies vision and mission. A leadership with integrity is necessary for long term success. Integrity and values in a company are only created and strengthened through leaders with rock solid integrity and high values. They recognize the long term results of decisions made from their values and vision and this produces trust. Trust that is critical to long term success.
If you build that foundation, both the moral and the ethical foundation, as well as the business foundation, and the experience foundation, then the building won't crumble.

The Thriving Small Business site is quoted as saying "The success of an organization is built on the trust of customers, employees and the general public. The best way to gain that trust is to demonstrate ethics and integrity in business, not because of legal requirements – but because it is the right thing to do." This site also lists six examples of demonstrating business ethics and integrity, starting with accounting practices and truth in selling. http://thethrivingsmallbusiness.com/articles/examples-of-business-ethics-and-integrity/ This article also list the examples of customer service, personal and product integrity as being important. Make sure that integrity proven in the past is a part of your company leaderships core for long term success.
Do not join a company that does not have the experience to make the correct decisions. Remember that many new companies will not make the long term. Shikhar Ghosh is a Senior Lecturer of Business Administration at Harvard Business School says "The statistics are disheartening no matter how an entrepreneur defines failure. If failure means liquidating all assets, with investors losing most or all the money they put into the company, then the failure rate for start-ups is 30 to 40 percent, according to Shikhar Ghosh, a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School who has held top executive positions at some eight technology-based start-ups." Company leadership with a history of success in the type of business at hand will greatly advantage the companies decisions and outcome.
Research the company and see how many negative comments have been made on the internet. Most companies will have some comments made from disheartened affiliates, so take this into consideration. Do your research and see how many companies the CEO and executive board have been involved in and what kind of results they have had. Your long term success will be determined by the every day decisions of the leaders of your company. Make sure that the company that you choose has the integrity, experience and values that will bring long term success.
You can start right where you stand and apply the habit of going the extra mile by rendering more service and better service than you are now being paid for.

Great post Ken. I agree with this part especially:
ReplyDeleteTiming in the company and the industryAn amazing consumable product that solves peoples problemsA compensation plan that rewards even small effortsA system to acquire customers and business builders that is duplicatableYour persistence and desire to succeed
A consumable product will require people to be consistent customers. And if it solves their issues, they will come back for more.
And persistence is key too. Those who stick at it ill see results.
Good post!!

Great tips shared here. I believe that people are the greatest asset that a business can have - be they distributors, representatives or customers. Relationship are necessary to make or break a business. Def compensation plans that reward any effort no matter how little.
ReplyDeleteOK... I made it... clicking on your blog froze my computer for about 10 seconds but didn't crash it.
ReplyDeleteWonder what it is?
Anyway... I like the 7 critical elements you shared here and believe they all play a part in success~
See you Tueday!
Great information.. I think the most important is persistence and the desire to succeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Yetunde, that is so true that people are our greatest asset. Thanks for the important reminder.
ReplyDeleteShelly why would you post that in a comment, I do not know. Your computer is low on memory.. Too much stuff lol. Talk later today!
ReplyDeleteAdam thanks for the comment, yes maybe persistence is the thing that most people that "fail" lack..
ReplyDeleteBecause I was thinking out loud and grateful my computer didn't crash so I could leave you a nice comment;)
ReplyDeleteYou think that's what it is? Low memory? Thanks for the tip... You have no idea how much I appreciate it!!!
Hi Ken, I do agree that ethics and integrity are the two most important factors in any business. When I see companies going for that quick fix, I also see their quick downfall. I had joined the internet marketing world to be a forerunner for other people to obtain financial freedom. That is what is in my heart. Yes, I can refer them to systems and other venues on the marketing platform. BUT..they must be something I use myself and must be ethical!
ReplyDeleteWe do need to have persistence and the desire to succeed. That is what leadership is about.
Thank you for sharing your information.
Donna Merrill
Donna, I love your outlook. Without ethics and integrity the business foundation is weak. I am glad to be connected with wise people such as your self that understand this. Thanks for the visit!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit Carl and I agree that these two are very important.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the point number One. If a business is purely for the purpose of making money and does not care about the humanity, it is of no value. The bottom line of all business should be for the betterment of all human beings.
ReplyDeleteI agree Annetta. Thank you so much for the visit and your agreement. I appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteHey Ken,
ReplyDeleteBoth of these critical elements are important. Most of the companies today focus just on making money, making profits, rather than customer satisfaction and providing real value to the customers and to the world. But, there are a few companies out there who realize the importance of customer satisfaction and providing value and work their company based on those principles. The workers and the managers of a company needs to have a clear vision upon the goals of the company and they should work together (rather than trying to force each other to do something).
Anyways, thank you for the post, Ken!
Waiting for the rest of the series:)
This is the second post to quote Napoleon Hill today,
ReplyDeleteGood points regarding doing more than just making a profit..... Many see money as the end result, and will in tern start to do anything to get it.
Not.the way to build long term customers!
Look forward to the rest of the series.

All excellent Criteria for choosing a Business to join, MLM or Internet - and also I believe these are the Criteria we should run our own Businesses by - providing a product or service to help our customers, with knowledgable advice, and a vision to exceed their expectations has worked for me :)
